Brisbane’s inner east suburb of Coorparoo just got cheerier!
In a bold move against the popular Hamptons-style colour trend, the owners of this 1880s Queenslander bungalow have embraced sunny yellows and greens, with the help of Brisbane painters BJC Painting Services.

Owned by the Hackett family since 1914, this cute timber home was entrusted to Brett Callander and his team at BJC Painting Services.
“It’s enjoyable when people step outside the norm and do something different,” said Brett.
“When I first saw the colours on the overlay, I thought ‘wow that’s different’.
“The owners wanted it to be their style, their flavour, and a bit unique.”
Brett said he always offered his clients a complimentary colour consultancy and digital overlays.
“The Hacketts were quite keen to use that service to ensure the colour was correct,” said Brett.
“Customers do show a lot of interest when I mention digital overlay.”

Setty Vang, from Belle Living Interior Design, helped the owners find yellows and greens that would work well together, and digital colour overlays by Digital Overlay Australia helped the owners visualise the new colour scheme.
The repaint took two and a half weeks to complete, and included paint restoration and treating timber decks with Intergrain.
The result was so impressive, the neighbours asked BJC Painting to paint their place too.
Brett stressed the importance of looking after properties like these.
“All in all, with the age of the property, regular maintenance and the correct paint system is the key to longevity,” he said.
The owner, Kevin Hackett, was very happy with the outcome.
“We wanted it done our way – we wanted bright colours” said Kevin.
“We couldn’t be happier, we’re really pleased with it. Very grateful to Brett and his team for the job they have done.”
